SSH, or Secure Shell, is a network protocol that's used to connect to a server and conduct various tasks via a command line. The protocol is employed by many experienced users, since the data transmitted over it is encrypted, so it may not be intercepted on the way by a third party. SSH access could be used for lots of things with regards to the type of website hosting account. With a shared hosting account, in particular, SSH is among the ways to import/export a database or to upload a file when the hosting server allows for it. If you have a virtual or a dedicated server, SSH can be used for pretty much anything - you can install software or restart particular services including the web server or the database server which run on the machine. SSH is used largely with UNIX-like Operating Systems, but there are clients which enable you to employ the protocol if your personal computer is working with a different OS as well. The connection is made on TCP port 22 by default and the remote hosting server always listens for incoming connections on that port though a number of providers change it for security reasons.

SSH access is available with all hosting we offer you. With some of them, it is offered as standard, while with others it is an additional upgrade which you can include with a few clicks in your website hosting Control Panel. You can choose the password that you will use and, if necessary, you shall be able to change it with a few clicks from the same spot. All commands which can be used with our shared packages are listed in a help article together with relevant examples. SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
All our VPS server offers include SSH access by default, so you will not need to include any upgrades or activate anything - the second the server is set up and you receive its login details, you shall be able to connect using its main IP address and the login credentials that you've chosen through the signup procedure. Because the VPS accounts come with full root-level access, there are no restrictions regarding the commands that you can run. Your server shall be isolated from the others on the physical machine, so you shall be able to manage pretty much everything using a command line, including server-side software installations and reboots. This way, you'll be able to work with your files, databases and any applications you install in a fast and safe way.
